Traveling is one of the things that you can do all year-round depending on the destination you are visiting. Most of the time, the only thing you have to be worried about is fixing your schedule in order to get the most out of the trip, without encountering too many problems. To guide you in making your travel plans, here are 3 Things You Shouldn’t Do When Traveling.
1. Don’t book your trip too early
Getting overexcited about a trip you’ve been saving for is one of the problems that travelers encounter a few months before the scheduled trip. A common mistake that they make is booking too early and spending more money than necessary. For flights, three to four months before the trip will be an ideal time to book, since airlines start to raise/lower the rates (depending on the demand) and there is likely to be enough seats for you (and your companions) if you make your reservations around this time. But this not applicable to cruises and group tours, when booking for those activities, wait until the very last minute to get the best price. Companies offering cruises and tours would have to fill the boats and tours, so they start offering cheaper last-minute deals to fill the vacancies.
2. Don’t hesitate about getting a travel insurance
A travel insurance may seem unnecessary and an unreasonable additional expense, but having one makes you for almost anything that might happen to you during the trip. Traveling is all about exploring the unknown and anything can happen while you’re out in the open, having the time of your life. You might break a leg while on a hike, lose some valuables while walking in the busy streets, and other unforeseen and unfortunate events. This is just a precaution you take when you’re overseas and a wise protection for medical and nonmedical emergencies. It might cost you a some amount, but it’s better to be prepared than having to pay much more once the unfortunate situation arises
3. Do not eat near popular attractions
Food offered at and near tourist attraction is often too expensive and not as tasty as what you can buy from other areas. Many restaurants and food stalls sell expensive snacks and meals to tourists because they often prefer to stay close to their destination, while some think that they don’t have no choice but to pay for expensive food because other restaurants are too far away. You can find good tasting food that is much cheaper when you buy from smaller (but safe) food stalls or one that are some distance away from tourist spots. What you can do is bring your own food or if you can, buy food somewhere that is not too close to popular tourist attractions to avoid spending too much money on unreasonably expensive food.
When traveling to places that you’re not so familiar with, it would be helpful to do some research about activities, restaurants, accommodations, transportation on other related information that you can use during the trip. You can also look at tips written by other tourists who have been to your destination, to guide you in making your plans. It may take a few minutes but all the time and effort will be worth it, especially when you find yourself in sticky situations.
We hope that this list of 3 Things You Shouldn’t Do When Traveling would be helping you make wise decisions once you’ve started making those travel plans. Enjoy traveling and be safe!
