One of the online travel agencies that specialize on property rentals, particularly bed and breakfast, is Airbnb. They have been in operation since 2008 and their headquarters is located in San Francisco, California.
In this OTA Reviews update, travelers would be reading about how Airbnb.com operates and what do they offer to their customers. Also, travelers would be reading feedback from previous customers coming from Airbnb reviews on the Internet.
Airbnb, Inc. is “an online community marketplace for people to list, discover, and book accommodations worldwide online or from a mobile phone.” They were formerly known as AirBed & Breakfast, Inc. They connect people to the properties they want to rent whether it be a small apartment or an entire castle, based on their website.
Add to that, they boast of having over 60 million guests and covering over 34,000 major cities in over 190 countries. That doesn’t include the more than 1,400 castles they have in their catalog. In total, they already have more than two million listings worldwide.
Co-founder Brian Chesky is the chief operating officer of Airbnb since its inception. Apart from his current position as Airbnb, Inc. CEO, he is also a Board of Overseers of Y Combinator member. Before co-founding the online travel agency, he owned and operated an industrial design shop. Chesky graduated in Rhode Island School of Design where he took up Bachelor at Fine Arts in industrial design.
Meanwhile, there are a lot of negative feedback from from previous customers of the online travel agency, based on Airbnb reviews on the Internet. Most of these negatives reviews were on the alleged fraudulent booking that the frequently conducted by the online travel agency.
One previous customer even said that Airbnb cancelled his account [on the website], without any reason of further explanation. This led to the customer cancelling their earlier booking; when they asked the online travel agency why they cancelled the account, Airbnb simply said that they cannot disclose any other information.
Another traveler was also disappointed after making a booking with Airbnb. It seemed that everything was going well, in fact the customer booked earlier and was even able to talk to the host. However two days later, the host said they’d have to make renovations on the rented property and they would not be able to accommodate the traveler.
The traveler was very disappointed considering that they had already paid for the rented property and that the fee was non-refundable, based on the agreement with Airbnb. This made the traveler believe that the online travel agency was up to something fraudulent by imposing such rules and yet, not all of the properties on their listings could deliver 100 percent.
On the other hand, travelers who would still want to book with Airbnb would not have any problem doing so; the website is actually very neat.
Travelers would be greeted by a search panel that lets them do a quick search. Below the search panel, travelers would be able to check the company’s latest offers. Near the bottom of the page and just above the quick links, travelers could check the company’s blog.
Now, the quick links at the bottom of the page would be able to assist customers in navigating the website. Travelers just need to check the “Discover” column at the quick links. There, travelers would also be able to check the link that directs them to the mobile app download page to check how to get the “Airbnb, mobile” that is available for both iPhones and Android phones.
Also, travelers can connect with Airbnb through their various channels and social media pages on Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube.
So far, a lot of previous Airbnb customers had been complaining about the service that they received from the online travel agency. Many of these previous customers even suspect Airbnb of fraudulent acts, based on Airbnb reviews. Hopefully, the online travel agency would be able to rectify these problem so that they would not be suspected of any wrongdoing.
