People’s opinion of BHX
Summarizing the Birmingham Airport reviews I have found online, the airport is both good and bad depending on how you look at it. First, the check-in and security processes are generally fast. Most of the time, you won’t have to wait in line, but if you do, the queues don’t take any longer than 30 minutes.
Shopping and dining options can be expensive, as with most airports. There are plenty of shops, including some high-end stores.
Unfortunately, many people used the word “miserable” to describe the airport staff. The passengers noticed how unenthusiastic and dull they appear to be. This is assuming that you do manage to find them, because for some reason the staff seems to be hiding whenever you need them.
The WiFi connection is fair, however, the process of connecting to the network is lengthy and somewhat complicated. Be careful when providing personal information over the airport WiFi. You will have to pay £1 or £2 to use a trolley, which is unusual.
Once inside, you may either proceed to the security and check-in processes or you may choose to hang around the shops and restaurants. The signages aren’t very good, so be careful not to get lost in the terminal. The halls are clean and foot traffic isn’t really a problem.
Restaurants include Burger King, the Deli Hub, Caffe Ritazza, Blanc et Noir, Costa and more. Airport shopping options include fashion and apparel stores, perfume shops, magazine stands along with other shops.
Other facilities such as pharmacies, a prayer room, an observation deck, currency exchange booths and several ATMs are available.
To and from the airport
For those who are okay with riding public utility vehicles, they may ride the AirRail Link train that runs through the Birmingham International Station which is directly connected to the airport, or they may ride the bus that has five routes.
Otherwise, passengers may ride a taxi or they may opt for a car rental service, for a more private ride.
Location, traffic, and services
The airport is located 6.3 miles or 10.2 kilometers to the east southeast of downtown Birmingham. Last 2015, the airport handled 10,187,122 passengers and 98,015 aircraft movements.
