Jetstar Asia Airways, is a low-cost airline based in Singapore. It is one of the Asian offshoots of parent: Jetstar Airways, the low-cost subsidiary airline of Australia’s Qantas airline. It operates services to regional destinations in Southeast Asia to countries such as: Myanmar, Cambodia, Malaysia Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. It also flies to regional routes in East Asia, such as: Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Jetstar Asia Airways, is the main feeder airline for its parent company Jetstar Airways, for budget passengers flying to Australia.

Origins and Ownership

Jetstar Asia was launched in 2004. Due to its belated entry into the market, the airline differentiated itself from the competitors by flying further. The airline announced a seven routes to Shanghai, Hongkong, Taipei, Pattaya, Jakarta, Surabaya and Manila. The most ambitious startup plan compared to any of its Asian rivals, which would have given it the widest international coverage.

Barathan Pasupathi, was appointed as Jetstar Asia Airways’ Chief Executive Officer since July 2012. Barathan has over 23 years of experience in aviation and energy sectors and was a founding executive of Jetstar Asia, serving as its Chief Financial Officer from 2004 to 2007. Barathan is a graduate of Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Commerce. Barathan is a graduate from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Commerce. In 2013 he was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus award by Murdoch University. He also holds a Masters in Business Administration and is a member of CPA Australia.
