Background and Ownership

Royal Brunei Dato Paduka Haji Bahrin bin AbdullahRoyal Brunei Airlines was established on November 18, 1974. Scheduled flights commenced on May 14, 1975, which initially offered flights to Hong Kong, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Singapore. By mid-1970’s, they started to offer flights to Manila and Bangkok. Since then, the airline’s flight network had largely grown.

The airline’s current chairman is Mr. Dato Paduka Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah, who is also the Deputy Minister of Finance in Brunei.

A passenger who flew from New Zealand to London found the airline’s services to be satisfying. The food was good, and although no alcoholic drinks were offered, the other refreshments were pretty okay. “A straightforward airline”, says another passenger. He and his wife flew from Brunei to the UK, and he liked the no-frills services.

    Flew with Royal Brunei about 5 times already. Nice flight attendants, they kept offering these free refreshments which I gladly accepted!
